jude–I agree and I think that’s the issue we’re trying to overcome. Often the pitting of IT vs. faculty happens on the faculty side and as IT staff, we’re constantly trying to dispel the notion that we’re against them. But we’ve also experienced situations where faculty have literally shunned us. All these videos that we created for ELI were meant to spark discussion. And it seems we have!

    Thanks for this …
Thanks for this thoughtful video. However, pitting faculty and students against IT staff seems a false choice to me. As both a faculty member and a member of the IT staff, it seems to me there is an increasing gap between how most instructors are comfortable teaching and how most students want to be taught. Academic technology staff should bridge the gap between these two, helping instructors expand their comfort zones that bring them closer to teaching in ways that students find compelling. No?
